With this post, I am introducing a weekly blog, to capture the news from our community and beyond. Have you been working hard on your eZ Platform code all week, and missed out on all the news? Just make sure you tune in on Fridays for ‘This week in eZ’!

I will be covering news, coming from our bloggers within the community, social media, the eZ Community on Slack, and more. With this first post, we are off to a great start, as there is lots of news to share.

News

eZ has been nominated for the 2015 People's Choice CMS Awards, as best CMS for Publishers. Last year, we were also nominated for best Enterprise PHP CMS, along with Drupal and TYPO3. Voting runs from November 19, 2015 to January 1, 2016. Be sure to vote!

eZ has joined the CMS Garden. The CMS Garden is a group of open source CMS projects e.g. companies, with a goal to present alternatives to closed source software, support decision makers, and more. The CMS Garden is present at events such as Cebit, and LinuxTag. You find eZ’s listing here.

As you might know, our community can also be found on Slack these days. After using Slack for the last six months, we hit the 200 member mark. What’s also interesting for our community, is two recents channel additions, the ‘ezplatform-ui’ and ‘community-sites’ channels. As for the ezplatform-ui channel, this is a channel to discuss the present and the future of the User eXperience delivered through the eZ Platform User-interface. In the community-sites channel, we invite you to discuss the future of our community platform. You can join the community on Slack here.

We also have something to celebrate, as Igor Vrdoljak, who works at Netgen, has been a member of the community for 10 years! He joined on November 14, 2005. Igor, congratulations on this milestone, and thank you for being a loyal member of our community.

A reminder to our community members who contribute to eZ Platform, we have a limited number of PhpStorm licenses available to give away. If you are interested, read this earlier blog post.

VP of Engineering at eZ, André Rømcke, wrote a welcome to the Symfony community letter to Drupal, hence the virtual cake you may have seen around Twitter.

Social media

The eZ Crew has posted photos of the eZ Conference on Facebook and Google+. If you attended the conference, and took photos, feel free to share a link in the comments. If you were not able to attend, you can read the brief day-by-day recap of the conference on the eZ Blog.

Overheard on Slack this week: “Thou shall not do authentication in a controller”

As a quick reminder, we are present on social media in several places. We have the Community on Google+, Facebook, and of course on Twitter with @eZSystems and @ezcommunity. Tip: check the #InsizeEZ hashtag on Twitter, to see what the eZ Crew is up to.

Events

SymfonyCon Paris 2015 will take place on December 1-5. An important one, as they will also celebrate Symfony’s 10th birthday. You find more information on the official event website.

eZ is on the Road! With eZ Platform and eZ Studio coming soon, learn how you can benefit from eZ's biggest release in over a decade. The Roadshow is visiting Oslo on December 1, Paris on December 8, and Cologne on December 9. More information can be found here.

With this, I wrap up the first ‘This week in eZ’. If you have any news or events to share, please contact me, so I can include it in upcoming posts.
