Introduction

Since the early days, eZ Publish has been implementing some key ingredients of what it takes to build efficient content strategies. Talk with UX experts, content strategists and other information architects, they will often tell you about the war between chunks and bytes, about the importance of separating presentation from content, about how valuable it can be to model your content to your own needs and business and about other benefits from very adaptive and flexible content repositories. That is all true.

Content variations on field level supported directly by the CMS is definitely interesting. Would love to see how this unfolds.

Slightly off-topic: are there any plans to make content types also inheritable? Think for example about a news type that inherits an article and just adds the date&time field type.

Hi Ivo,

Thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply, your comment went right in the middle of my vacation, which were totally offline, and I am just catching up!

Content variations at field level: Yes, it is one of the things that could help here. I'll soon share a way we could do this.

Inheritance: in my opinion, indeed very much related!

So no concrete answer beside the fact that I hope to share soon the way I would see this as a user, and that I hope others will comment, or even bring their own ideas and wireframes or paperboard pictures happy.gif Emoticon

Cheers,

Roland
