Strip index.php from the URL

Strip index.php from the URL

Saturday 09 August 2014 6:46:28 pm - 8 replies

  • The general public doesn't have permissions to create an issue in this project (https://jira.ez.no/browse/COM) so I am posting the issue in this thread
  • share.ez.no should have a rewrite rule to strip index.php from the URL.  Sometimes when visiting the site, many links are broken. Presumably this is because a crawler or some bad link got a hold of http;//share.ez.no/index.php the first time the page without index.php got regenerated in the view cache. To test this, go to http;//share.ez.no/index.php and click on any of the main menu links.

@raj kumar

Peter is talking about the pages that are being stored in search engine indexes with the wrong url configuration, not broken links but rather misconfigured url links.

See it's become quite a big problem over the years and while it increases our index size it's really the wrong way to seo this site to users and search engines.

But ... I'll stop trying to talk for Peter and let him say what's what.

I did want to chime in here and mention that the project.ez.no site also suffers from this very same problem. It also needs this problem to be fixed in the templates of the site. What do you think?

Cheers,
Heath

Hello guys!

It's fixed now. COM project is open to everyone (with an eZ Community account). Feel free to create issues!

Hell Sylvain,

Thank you very much for solving the problem with creating COM project issues!

I can't wait to file my next issue for the COM project happy.gif Emoticon

You're welcome. IT team didn't know why these permissions of this project have changed.

I know this issue. But I didn't have time to have a look on this issue.

Hello,

@Peter - Sorry to spam your thread so much about anything but fixing the issue your reporting. But it is my hope to be able to help fix this issue and more in other efforts to restart the share.ez.no team.

@All - We have published a blog entry announcing the opening of the COM project to new issues! http://share.ez.no/blogs/brookins-consulting/jira.ez.no-com-project-now-open-to-new-issue-tickets

@Sylvain - What is the status of our request to help fix share.ez.no issues? I am ready now to get started working on the website. I have setup my older copy of the site's source on my local dev for testing and bug fixing. I'm eager to get started blunk.gif Emoticon
