Consecutive logins not allowed - problem solved

Consecutive logins not allowed - problem solved

Phew. That was close. Frustration levels were so high I was about to change camps and go to Silverstripe CMS.

I seem to have successfully made the upgrade from Ezpublish 4.1.3 to 4.2
Hopefully now I can change to a different DB model and separate the data from our bloated 30gig database.

What was the problem ? The problems were many.

Problem 1. After logging out of the CMS I was not allowed to log in again. (Permission denied) I had to purge everything to get ONE login: /usr/local/php/bin/php bin/php/ezcache.php --clear-all --purge.....but then it would happen again.

The fix? I ran /usr/local/php/bin/php bin/php/ezcache.php --clear-id=user_info_cache

It only needed running once.

I found this out by clearing first the tags, and then the ids on all of the following one by one, by process of elimination: content, global_ini, ini, codepage, classid, sortkey, urlalias, chartrans, imagealias, template, template-block, template-override, texttoimage, rss_cache, user_info_cache, content_tree_menu, state_limitations

Not at all time-consuming when compared to the weeks, months? I have spent messing with this so far.

Problem 2. I had no rich text editor in my guis on front or back-ends. The fix?
I'm not sure. I didn't try to upgrade ezwebin or enable the admin2 interface this time. If I am prepared to break it again I may re-look at this.

If you tried to help me on this, thank you for spending the time.
Thanks Betsy and Steven

PS: next step: upgrading to 5.x?

Given that it took me a month of solid work to go from 4.1 to 4.2, I wont be going to 5 anytime soon Nicolas. As soon as I got there I am sure 6 would come out and it would seem like a lot of work for nothing. The reason I went from 4.1 to 4.2 was because 4.1 to 4.5 didn't work for me. There is nothing I can't do in 4.1.3 anyway, except have my data outside of my DB. I will deal with that first, and then try to repeat it on my live servers with replication, out in the real world.

Cheers cuz

Ok, makes sense. A brand new project might be a better opportunity for you to jump on the 5.x boat then, I suppose.

Cheers,

Yeah, I am definitely keen on that. Looking  forward to using a responsive design.
