John,
Have a play with the latest 3.9 RC. You will find on page editing via a toolbar, pay a little attention to the permissions set on the Editor role as well if you use odf.
You can implement the same functionality in 3.8 with no or little modification.
Let us know how you get on and if you need any assistance.

Thanks for your swift reply.
Does 3.9 work on php4.4 or php5? Can i see some sort of demo as my development pc is configured to php4.3.
I am using ez3.6.1 at the moment, any change in that.
Is it possible?
cheers
Smith

3.9 should be run on PHP 4.4. 5.x is not supported.
I couldn't tell you whether or not it would work in 3.6.1, I don't have a test install of 3.6.1 at the moment to play with. You should be able to get it to work without too much modification.
What is your hesitation upgrading to 3.8.6?

hi andrew,
I can upgrade it but not now as short of time. It would be a favour if you can only just write what it does as you have seen and tested it. Requirement from one of our clients. He want to edit pages from the user end, without using the adminsitration interface and want to know whether is it possible or not just verbally.
Please help
Much apprecitated.

That should give you a fairly good idea of what is possible.

Hi,
I've developped a few templates to be able to edit/move/create... content from the user site and my clients don't even know a back-office site exists.
That's simple, and you could probably directly use the template(s) on the 3.9 and use them in 3.8
Otherwise, Kristof has ported ezp to PHP5 and it seems to work quite well.

Hello Smith
The topic on the PHP5 port is located at: http://ez.no/community/forum/install_configuration/ez_publish_and_php5
It's still under development, I recommend to NOT use it on live portals. It's still based on 3.8 untill 3.9 is stable.

You can find documentation about the new interface in eZ publish here:
http://ez.no/doc/extensions/website_interface
It explains how the front-end editing works in details.
