Hi,
An element can have more than one node ID, because its only a pointer that tell where in the tree the element is places. So if you tells eZ to place the element i more than one place you end up with an element that has one object ID and 1 (or more) node IDs. The content is "hidden" behind the object ID and the placements in node IDs.
Hope it was understandable?
