Installation error: execution time exceeded

Installation error: execution time exceeded

Tuesday 08 October 2013 11:38:10 pm - 4 replies

Hi all,

I have tested to install eZ Publish with eZ Publish Demo Site (ver. 5.1-0) and some other templates. Thats only a hosted webspace and the host do not want to increase execution time.

I entered the information for site registration and then I pressed next.

So I have to wait a time and then I have got an error:

---

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /xxx/ezpublish5_community_project-2013.7-gpl-full/ezpublish_legacy/lib/ezi18n/classes/ezchartransform.php on line 277
Fatal error: The web server did not finish its request

The execution of eZ Publish was abruptly ended, the debug output is present below.

---

Fatal error: The web server did not finish its request

The execution of eZ Publish was abruptly ended, the debug output is present below.

Everytime there is another script in the errorpath. So I think it is not only the script which is wrong.
I have enabled the debug mode and there are some Warnings:

Hi Florian,

It seems like the PHP configuration in use is not optimal. The immediate fix is to increase the value of "max_execution_time" in your php.ini to 120 or 180, and reload the configuration or restart your web server. More generally, you may want to have a quick look on the eZ Publish stack requirements.

Let us know how you progress,
Cheers,

To add to what Nicolas mentions above, instal wizard is usually what demands most from your max execution time and max memory limit settings, so consider doing the install locally (vm or on machine depending on what your comfortable with) and upload the result (database+files) when your satisfied. Then it should normally only be fixing  folder permissions + clearing cache from command line which needs to be done before trying to run it on new location.

Thank you both!

I think, I will install it local and use the online database. In this way I only need to copy the files.

Which execution time do eZ publish need when it is running in normal mode?

Hallo Florian,

I'd recommend 120 as a safe rule of thumb. This depends quite a bit on the hosting architecture's capabilities: big-gun --> reduce max_execution_time, low-key --> increase it.
