Override by user role / id, ever requested ?

Override by user role / id, ever requested ?

Hi,

I have been checking the forums and bug tracker, and I can't find anything...

Has anyone ever requested a match[user_id] or match[role_id] feature in template overrides ?

If yes, what were the conclusions ?

I've thought of that, but ended up checking for roles/user groups in templates.

I use it mainly to add a few buttons to edit/create from the "user" site depending on the roles/groups.

But it would be a logical feature to add, maybe file an enhancement request happy.gif Emoticon

Yeah, I think it would be a very nice improvement. It would lower the complexity required to make custom user stuff. Of course you can test in the template based on the user ID, but it's not as clean as the rest of eZ Publish happy.gif Emoticon

Hi all

Does anyone know if something has been implemented for this, in the latest versions?
I could use selecting which template to render based on the current user role.

Thanks, in advance,

I don't think this was ever implemented.  The best bet is to assign each group to a different section and use that - depending on your implementation.  If the changes are relatively minor then you can probably get away with a bunch of if statements.
