The Microsoft Web Platform Installer 3.0 (Web PI) is a free tool that makes getting the latest components of the Microsoft Web Platform, including Internet Information Services (IIS), SQL Server Express, .NET Framework and Visual Web Developer easy; it also makes it easy to install and run the most popular free web applications for blogging, content management and more with the built-in Windows Web Application Gallery.

The Community Project members have created a custom package that makes it possible to use the Web Platform Installer to install the eZ Publish Community Project version 2011.8 in an automated way.

We are now looking for testers willing to install the package on windows machines.

Prerequisites:

  • a windows computer
  • the Microsoft Web Platform Installer v. 3.0 (can be downloaded from Microsoft)
  • All the other components: IIS, PHP 5.3, MySQL, Wincache, MS Web Deploy will be automatically downloaded and set up by the WIP if they are not already installed

Instructions:

  1. Download and install Microsoft Web Platform Installer v. 3.0
  2. Run the Web Platform Installer and click "Options"

  3. Add the Community Project feed link: http://share.ez.no/ez-on-mswebplatform/ezpcpmswpifeed.xml

  4. Click "Applications", "CMS", scroll down, select and add the eZ Publish Community Project application and click "Install"
  5. When the WPI setup wizard has finished, continue eZ Publish installation by going through the standard setup wizard
  6. Voilà, you should have a working eZ Publish installation. Please report any problems you encounter (and successes too) on the forums here
