It has been a busy two weeks again for eZ Systems and our ecosystem. Symfony Live Cologne was well received, we saw the release of eZ Platform 2016.04 and more events are lined up such as re\VISION Boston and Web Summer Camp.

Week 18 in Review

eZ Platform 2016.04 introduced

In the previous week, the 2016.04 release of eZ Platform (and eZ Studio) was introduced. This is the second Fast Track release of our next generation content platform. With this release comes a variety of new features such as managing sub-items, trash management, and support for field categories. With the release comes an improved beginners tutorial for developers. You can check out the release notes, to see the full list of bug fixes and more information on the release.

Looking ahead to Fast Track releases 2016.06 and 2016.08, the focus will be on solving issues, and introducing more innovative features such as:

  • Finalize the new view of sub-items, including the visual grid view.
  • Provide the version management capabilities in the content repository in Platform UI
  • Provide devops with tools to simplify deployment via docker
  • And many other

As always, we invite you to collaborate on the development of eZ Platform. Good starting points are the short-term roadmap, and our eZ Community Slack Channels (join here).

As mentioned in the 2016.04 release article, the Beginner Tutorial - Building a Website with eZ Platform continues to be improved. “This tutorial is a step-by-step guide to building an eZ Platform website from the ground up. All instructions and steps are based on the 2016.04 version of eZ Platform.” If you are new and ready to develop on eZ Platform, it’s an excellent starting point.
