With Christmas closing in, it looks like everyone in our community is ramping up for some ‘gifts’. In this week in review, I recap eZ Platform releases, an update on Tag Bundle from Netgen and lots more.

Week 49 in Review

More releases, eZ Platform 1.6.2 and 1.7 RC1

André Rømcke, VP of Engineering at eZ, shared release news on Slack: “eZ Platform and eZ Studio 1.6.2 package updates are out, so run composer update to update your code for dev if you are using these two products. Next up next week is 1.7.0.”

And on top of that, David Liedle, Technical Product Manager at eZ, has more news about eZ Platform 1.7: “eZ Platform and eZ Enterprise (and their demos) are tagged at v1.7.0-rc1 on GitHub as of today! Release notes will be produced between now and the LTS release next week. Here's a preview: https://doc.ez.no/display/DEVELOPER/eZ+Platform+and+eZ+Enterprise+v1.7.0+LTS

Update from Netgen's on Tag Bundle

Maja Nebes from Netgen posted an update in our Google+ group, about their work on Tags Bundle. Work has started after a successful crowdfunding campaign. The focus is on the backend part of the Tag management interface. Maja: "We hope this feature will be done in time to make a nice New Year gift to the community. :)"

Symfony Flex set to enable Rapid Application Development

What Symfony has been lacking is the tooling for Rapid Application Development (RAD), with minimal overhead for prototyping. Jani Tarvainen, Professional Services Consultant at eZ, has an update for us on Symfony Flex set to enable RAD.

"The Symfony team has acknowledged this gap in their offering. And at SymfonyCon Berlin 2016 project lead Fabien Potencier announced what is known as Symfony Flex. Details are not precise, as I was not attending conference, but the tagline for Symfony Flex is: Composition over Inheritance."
