This week brings us exciting news, as eZ Platform won the CMS Critic 2016 award for Best Enterprise CMS. We also saw the first crowdfunding campaign by Netgen, for the Tag Bundle. And we have updates from the Community Board.

Week 45 in Review

eZ Platform awarded for Best Enterprise CMS

This week eZ Systems was named the winner of the 2016 @CMSCritic Award for Best Enterprise CMS. We would like to thank everyone in our ecosystem for their support. A full list of award winners can be found at www.cmscritic.com/awards/

Crowdfunding Netgen’s Tags Bundle

Today, Netgen’s Ivo Lukac shared on our Slack channel that just over 50% of the initial goal of their recent crowdfunding campaign to further develop the Tags Bundle was met. And that Netgen will continue the project to implement the promised features.

“We will need to invest a significant amount of hours to extend the functionalities of Tags Bundle for eZ Platform UI, hence we require funding. The results of the effort will be these 3 features:”

  • Content type field UI (for managing Tags field on the content type level)
  • Content field UI (for adding/removing tags )
  • Tags management section (for all actions on tags, to be added to the admin section of eZ Platform UI)

Patch release 1.6.1-rc1

Patch release 1.6.1-rc1 was tagged this week, meaning the final can be expected next week. For more info see https://github.com/ezsystems/ezplatform/releases/tag/v1.6.1-rc1 and https://github.com/ezsystems/ezstudio/releases/tag/v1.6.1-rc1.

Community Board Updates

Next week the Community Board will meet again, and discuss topics such as onboarding community members and translation of the eZ Platform UI. With eZ Platform becoming more feature complete with every release, it is time to prepare for translation efforts like we had for eZ Publish. Infrastructure and tooling is a work in progress by eZ Engineering, and should be ready this month.

We will also look back at earlier topics such as working on eZ Legacy, and improvements to our community platform. Keep an eye out for our meeting minutes for updates on these topics.

eZ DBFS Unclusterize command

Some of our community members share some interesting code on GitHub. So did Sebastien Morel the other week, with his gist for eZ Platform, eZ DBFS Unclusterize command. David Liedle, eZ Technical Product Manager, picked this up and added it to our tracker to include it into eZ Platform. So be sure to share your code with us! Who knows, it might end up being part of eZ Platform.

Each week, we publish a roundup of highlights from the eZ ecosystem on share.ez.no, which we republish here on the eZ Blog. If you have any news or events to share, please contact me.
