In these times of tight budget, I am sure that you will all appreciate some tips and trick to spare money while in Cologne for the eZ Conference.
(by the way, have you checked on the Agenda Preview yet?)

EDIT : You need to convince your boss to let you go to the Conference?  We have 7 good reasons!

Travel and transportation to Cologne

Cologne / Bonn is not a big airport and flying there could be expensive.  A cheaper way to come to Cologne if you come from Western and Central Europe might be the train.  Considering those might have Wi-Fi you can even keep working on the way (PS : that's a killer argument if your boss is somewhat reluctant – or even if you are your own boss :) ). What's more: booking in advance ( like : NOW ) can yield super interesting rates (ex: Thalys between Paris and Cologne).
Apart from regular airlines, there is also a bunch of low-cost airlines flying from and to Cologne/Bonn (Ryanair, Easyjet, Germanwings, …).  More information here.

Accommodation at special rate

eZ has negociated rates if you want to book your room at the Barceló.  The conference rates will be secured until September 3rd at the rates of 99€/single and 109€/double.

The website and call for paper

And as usual, you have constant updates on the official website of the Conference (and here too, through weekly blog posts, stay tuned). The early-birds rates are still available, be quick and register, that's also definitely a way to join the eZ Conference with an optimized budget.
We already receive some very interesting proposals for the call for paper at the conference.  Don’t hesitate to submit your proposal, we REALLY love them.

Register now !

We said it before? Right.
Worth repeating this though, since the early-bird rates will expire very soon… --> HAPPENS HERE.

The City

If you decide to have a day or two of vacation in Cologne, you might want to do some sightseeing.  A lot of useful information is available on the Tourism Office of Cologne.

You might also need information about the public transportation, you have information on the Koelner Verkehrs-Betriebe website (Cologne’s Public Transportation website) and you will find an English downloadable pocket guide here.
