eZ Publish and responsive design

Friday 02 November 2012 2:07:48 pm - 4 replies

I was trying to find any information about Responsive Design feature mentioned as a new thing in 4.7:

I found nothing, nothing technical at least. Guys from Netgen wrote an article about this:

and there are some slides from eZ summer camp:

but nothing mentions any special eZ Publish tools/features that help setting up a responsive design.

I don't get it, was it only a marketing talk? Why there are no articles/docs on about responsive design? What actually changed in 4.7 with regard to the responsive design?

Hi Konrad !

There is a new design for this : ezdemo.

You can watch a video about this feature:

And of course you can try this new design :

  • select ezdemo in installation wizard

Cheers !

Hi Sylvain and thank you for your reply! From what I understand ezdemo is a template/theme/design available in 4.7 that is featuring responsive design. People can use it as an example or as a starting point to their new projects. However, I'm working on an existing project, it was upgraded to 4.7 and I was wondering if there are any new tools/features in eZ Publish (like settings/template operators) that I should use when working on a responsive design.

Hi !

ezdemo design is using twitter bootstrap for responsive design feature. You can view and download it here:

I don't think that new release of eZ Publish contains new template operators or setting parameters specially for responsive design.

ezdemo implements the same operators as ezwebin does - in fact all of them are identical except for ezpagedata, which differs between the two extension.

Which makes me think that using ezwebin and ezdemo extensions at the same time is probably unsupported.

Other than that, there's nothing else in ezdemo except design elements: no fetch functions, views or any line of php code
