Use & in translations.ts files

Use & in translations.ts files

Wednesday 01 August 2012 3:46:06 pm - 2 replies

Hello,

I can't use the & symbol in my translations files.

If I use it in <source> it breaks the translations

However &amp; is ok in <translation>

Is it normal ? Is there a work around ? Can it be an encoding problem ?

It is normal: .ts files are in fact XML files.

XML has some encoding rules of its own: most notably you can not write & and < but need to use &amp; and &lt;

This does not mean that you will need to use &amp; in your templates, nor that translation files are only good for usage in translating html.

It works
