Introduction

We are proud to announce the release of eZ Publish 5.1 -- codename Stadda. This new release is the result of yet another 6 months development cycle, following the usual eZ Publish development cycles.

Congratulations for the release!

This announcement is a little confusing, is this a detailed version of the 2013.05 announcement or announcement for eZ Publish Enterprise 5.1.

As the version notation is 5.1, the article mentions support and there is no link pointing to the 2013.5 version download, I suppose the article talk about eZ Publish Enterprise 5.1.

A few points that are, in my humble opinion, arguable are:

  • eZ Systems is doing promotion on the community site for enterprise edition via release announcements, but there is no announcement of the community releases on eZ Systems site.
  • This article is a lot more detailed than the official 2013.05 announcement. It is weird that the community edition get a worse treatment than the enterprise edition on the community site.
  • There is no mention of enterprise only features. (LTS is obviously an enterprise only feature)

Putting a link to the release announcement on ez.no might have been wiser more efficient for eZ Systems leads.

Regarding community edition, it would be nice to have MariaDB compatibility in the database requirements.

@Eric thanks for your input. You are welcome at any time to participate actively, both in the build process of the community version and with pull requests on the main eZ sources - that is probably the best way to make sure it gets close to perfection happy.gif Emoticon
