Is it possible to an XML text block to ezflow blocks?

Hi and congrats on the great extension!

I have been using ezflow for quite a long time and it is working good. Now I want to add some new features to its blocks, so that they are not constrained only to adding items to them.

My question is if it is possible to add an XML text block to the ezflow block?
This XML block I want to use like a description field to the block, to show not only text but images, inserted tags, multimedia objects... in other words features of the Online Editor.

For this purpose I started with using the CustomAttributes setting of the blocks. And it worked as expected - shows a text input. But so far I haven't been able to call the OE for that field.
Is this possible? Or is there some other way than using CustomAttributes?

you can samply add an attribute XML block in the class frontpage, add use it in your template as you wish.

Hi Kostadinka,

did you find a simple way to use XML text block in ezflow blocks ?

I'm currently working on a "custom attributes" handler, but this needs a small hack of the ezpage datatype...

Hi, Arnaud, and thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately, I am no longer working on this task, but I will be very grateful if you could share your approach and maybe we can help each other later on.
I also think that with some modifications to the extension, this could be done. My initial idea, however, was to not change the extension a lot...

any solutions to this?

I fear at the moment the simplest you can do is create an xml block as attribute of the frontpage class, then use a custom template for your block that will display the xml-block gotten from the same frontpage object it is on. This is of course not very flexible, as you can not have as many xml blocks as the dynamically-added ezflow blocks in the page. You might use a content edit handler or workflow event to display the xml-block editor when editing the frontpage and storing the actual xml-block contents in some offline storage (ie. custom "holder" containers), but that would most likely be a lot of work...

I'd like to have something like that.

Why not create a class with only identifier, title? and xmltext.

We create as many nodes/object of those type as we need in one (ore more) hidden tree branch.

We link them to one (ore more) ezflow blocks.

The problem is the FE- and (in a less extend) the BE-editing.

We shouldn't change the structure, but the way we interact with it.

For instance, this show-some-formated-content block should "propose" only adequate nodes (right class(es), if needed right subtree(s)). And we should be able to switch quickly between editing the block and the content it shall show.

I'm still dreaming of a CMS combining the solidity and flexibility of eZ and the end-user ease of use of Wordpress or same-likes. Complex web apps should be a challenge for developers, not for end-users (writer and editors).

Has no one found a solution?
