Ezfind better than ezsearch engine ?

Ezfind better than ezsearch engine ?

Monday 09 July 2012 3:04:29 pm - 2 replies

Hey Guys, i would like to have a confirmation about this.

Cause i got a website who have problems with servers cause ezengine take too much ressources from mysql.

So my solution is to transfer to search engine to ezfind, because it takes less ressources from mysql and more from the solr engine in java.

i'm not wrong right ? ^^

Thx in advance

There are so many enhancements/features in ezfind compared to ez's internal search engine that it is even hard to compare.

You will need for sure some ram and cpu to run solr though. But it is easy enough to scale: just move it to a dedicated server happy.gif Emoticon

The only (minor) drawback is that we seem to have a slight memory leak with solr.  However, part of our maintenance scripts (automated) includes a restart, so it is not an issue.

Another nice feature about ezFind is that it does NOT even have to be on the same machine.. So, as long as the networking is sound, one can have a separate multi-core solr server for multiple websites.
