Different behaviour when updating using eZ 4 and eZ 5 API

Wednesday 20 January 2016 3:00:31 pm - 4 replies

I use Public API from eZ 5 for some operations on Front Office and I found out that the column published on ezcontentobject table changes every time I update a content. However, when I edit the object from the admin, which uses the eZ 4 API, it doesn't change, which seems to be normal, as this should be the first published date.

I use exactly the same code as mentioned on the documentation here:

I think it's a bug because, using eZ 5 API, I lost this information. In case I would need the updated time I could just retrieve the date from each version.

If it isn't a bug, how can I retrieve the first published date?

Hi Matthieu,

it's a bug indeed. There is a pull request on eZ kernel currently which fixes the behaviour. It will be merged soon and the fix will presumably be available in eZ Publish 6.1 kernel.

PR is located at

As for eZ Publish 5, someone from eZ will have to answer if and when will the fix will be backported to eZ 5.

Thank you very much for fast reply.

I think it's a really important issue, how this came up only 7 days ago?

I'm developing with eZ 5 some months now (I use 2014.11 version) and I find out that eZ 5 API has still lot of important issues... From now on, when I have to manage complex operations, I will use eZ 4 API, through legacy kernel.

Bugs can always happen, undetected for a long time, it happens happy.gif Emoticon

Once this is merged into eZ kernel, I will backport it to 2014.12 version of eZ kernel, so you will be able to use it immediately.

2014.12 version is eZ Publish Community 2014.11, maintained by community for bugfixes:
