eZPublish Symfony2 Ecommerce

Wednesday 06 February 2013 11:39:52 am - 2 replies

I am verry happy to see the fusion of eZ and Symfony2. I like 2 platform and i think it's a new springobard for the community.

I have a question about the integration of bundle and their interaction. I actually work on a project it will contains ecommerce part and I don't know if it's possible to use actually bundles (on knpbundles for exemple) in eZPublish 5 ? Or whether you should develop all the bundle ? There is a compatibility ?

An other question it's how classes in Ezpublish will interact with symfony2 model ? It's the same of entity in symfony ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Johann,

All Symfony2 bundles should just work as is, but we would like to better support security as part of eZ Publish in the future for stock symfony bundles. But for now, those should be configured using firewall rules.

As for interaction with Symfony model: there is no such interaction at the moment, and Symfony doesn't actually have a model, Doctrine provides one but you can choose others. Ours is pretty different from Doctrine, so we are currently just open to ideas on how we can get them to better interact in the future as we know several installs will want to combine both. So far there have been questions about having relations support across both models.

As for the model, it is currently perfectly possible to reuse eZ Publish's legacy database handler and request against it.

The service you can call / inject is ezpublish.api.storage_engine.legacy.dbhandler. Then, it's up to you how you want to use it, either directly (then check Zeta Database usage documentation) or via ZetaComponents PersistentObject.
