Frontend connection by email

Frontend connection by email

Monday 09 June 2014 5:30:32 pm - 13 replies

Hi,

What is the best practise to allow users to connect to frontend siteacess with email/password instead of login/password ?

You can enable it in site.ini [UserSettings] AuthenticateMatch

By default is already as you want: "login" and "email".

site.ini [UserSettings] AuthenticateMatch

This suppose to work on eZ 5.3 ?

Hi,

we are having the same problem with ez 5.3. 5.3 seems to use login only even if  AuthenticateMatch is set to "AuthenticateMatch=login;email"

I will post a ticket.

Hi,

we had the same issue with 5.3  and we found a solution described in a blog post:

http://www.ez-publish-blog.de/2014/07/ezpublish/extend-ez-5-3-login-email/

eZ 5.3 ignores settings from UserSettings and uses login only.

Hi

Paul has reported an issue here: https://jira.ez.no/browse/EZP-23143

It is true that UserService::loadByCredentials() only deals with username, not e-mail. This should be possible and is actually an easy fix happy.gif Emoticon. Idea would be to detect if passed username is an email or a username. Anyone for a PR ?

Hi Jerome,

> Idea would be to detect if passed username is an email or a username. Anyone for a PR

I would not recommend this since sometimes we generate the login name from a prefix and the email. Prefix might be the code for country or website. We are using this method e.g. if you want to allow users different logins with the same email (e.g. a user has a login in shop a B2B and wants to login in a B2C shop as well. In that case these are differnet users with different roles).
And it would be cool to have a config for a kind of subtree:
look for the user (by email) in usergroup a only (controlled by siteaccess).
