Need help with ezwt extension

Tuesday 17 February 2015 11:26:40 am - 6 replies

Hi there,

Warning: I'm fairly new to eZ Publish (I mainly use v5 and Symfony features) and I barely know eZ Publish Legacy.

I'm currently working on a website powered by eZ Publish 5 and I want my users be able to edit their own content in place, from frontend. So I installed the ezwt extension.

Despite the fact that the toolbar works great, the in-place editing form uses eZ Publish Legacy templates and is not suited for my frontend design and stylesheets.

How to adjust these templates and assets to match my design and where can I find it?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Julien,

You can create a legacy bundle (containing a design extension) and customize the legacy templates (via template overrides) and stylesheets to better match your own unique needs.

https://doc.ez.no/display/EZP/Legacy+code+and+features#Legacycodeandfeatures-Legacybundles

It will also help to enable template list debug to learn which templates are used on a current page.

Does this make sense?

In the future eZ Studio will replace the use of ezwt. Re: http://ez.no/Blog/What-to-Expect-from-eZ-Studio-and-eZ-Platform

I hope this helps!

Thanks Heath, it does make sense. Never saw this Legacy Bundle feature before.
However, I can't find those templates in ezwt extension design folder. Where are they? (In ezwebin extension maybe? Somewhere else?).

Another question I'm wondering: from the website toolbar action buttons, is it possible to redirect the user to the admin interface editing form instead of the in-place editing forms?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Julien,

ezwt extension only provides the templates for the edit toolbar for front end editing.

The actual editing templates are provided by eZ Publish design templates (which design and template locations vary depending on which designs / design extensions you have enabled via settings on the user siteaccess). Enable template list debug to get the full path to the templates used, clear all caches and reload the page in question to get the full listing.

But the concept is still the same, all the legacy templates used that you don't like can be overridden using a legacy bundle design extension as I've described above.

You could create some custom template code to link to the admin but this is not a feature I've ever seen ezwt provide by default, but I'm sure you could add it with minimal effort again using the legacy bundle feature described above (I know I could do it, so so can you blunk.gif Emoticon.

I hope this helps!
