Trouble with a remote mysql server

Monday 10 February 2014 10:37:52 pm - 4 replies

I'm new to this system, and having trouble using a remote database server with this.

I was able to install and configure virtual host on a CentOS 6.5 server, and I was able to go through the setup process. I have a AWS RDS (mysql) instance that I would like to use as the database behind ezPublish, so I put the server hostname and credential during the setup process. Everything seems to work fine until the end of the setup wizard. However, when the set up finishes, and when I try to enter the site, I get a 500 error.

Here's what the error log output looks like.

request.CRITICAL: Uncaught PHP Exception RuntimeException: "Database error" at /var/www/ez/vendor/ezsystems/ezpublish-kernel/eZ/Publish/Core/Persistence/Legacy/Content/Gateway/ExceptionConversion.php line 399 {"exception":"[object] (RuntimeException: Database error at /var/www/ez/vendor/ezsystems/ezpublish-kernel/eZ/Publish/Core/Persistence/Legacy/Content/Gateway/ExceptionConversion.php:399, PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) at /var/www/ez/vendor/doctrine/dbal/lib/Doctrine/DBAL/Driver/PDOConnection.php:40)"} []

So it's trying to connect to a local mysql database instead of the remote one I put during the set up process. When I open up the config/ezpublish.ini the database section indeed was targeting local mysql database. Why is this the case? I did specified the remote database during the setup process, and it did access my remote db, created its admin data, etc.

Could anyone help?

Thanks a lot.

I have now installed several times following this document: and the one in github repository.

You might have to manually edit the database settings in your ezpublish/config/ezpublish.yml file as it sounds like it was wrongly generated during setup wizard.

Thank for the response.

I ended up re-installing using the latest source in github following its installation process. It worked this way. The config file was correctly generated during the setup process.

Ok, which version did you try with originally?

I used the community 2014.1 version.
