Welsh Language?

Welsh Language?

Monday 22 April 2013 12:17:49 pm - 4 replies

Hi,

I'm looking at using EZ Publish 5 for a new project I'm working on, this project will be multi lingual, but I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get a Welsh translation installed. I don't need the admin interface to be translated, just the front-end of the site (including custom classes).

Has anyone had any success in adding custom translations before using EZ Publish 5?

Thanks

I've got to the bottom of the issue, (although maybe there needs to be better error handling when trying to add a custom language?!)

If you copy a language ini file (in my case eng-GB), and rename it to your specified language, this will be picked up in the dropdown list for adding language in the backend.

Hi Chris, and welcome aboard,

I guess you have duplicated the eng-Gb file location under <ezpublish_legacy>/share/locale/, right?

If so, you can also make sure to have a flag related to the new locale (and named after it) under <ezpublish_legacy>/share/icons/flags/.

PS: what was the error you alluded to, when/how did it occur?

Cheers,

Hi Nicolas,

I'll get the flag added now, thanks.

I was trying to add a "Custom" language through the admin interface, which was throwing no error, just showing the add language page again with nothing filled out. Confused me slightly as no error was shown, does the webserver need write access to the ini file directory?

Thanks

The issue seems to come from a clunky user interaction scheme on this very point: the custom locale must be created, and stored as a locale file on the filesystem prior to being added via this interface. In other words, this interface is not where one will create custom locales.

I hope this clarifies,
