Wrapping legacy user/register

Sunday 10 March 2013 4:02:51 pm - 3 replies

I've started putting together a design for a site in a new Symfony bundle which I'd like to use for some of the remaining legacy components (mainly /user/register and /user/login).

In an attempt to save myself the effort of duplicating my work as a legacy design, I've been trying to include the legacy register.tpl inside a custom view mapped to /user/register (using ez_legacy_include).

This isn't quite working as the default register.tpl requires an array of content attributes from the User content type to be present - so I either need to pass them in from my custom view (not clear how to get a handle on these), or rewrite the register template to not require them.

There's also the alternative approach of rewriting the whole register/login logic and templates in a Symfony bundle (I guess this is the way things are headed anyway), but I'm not sure how achievable that is at this point.

Has anyone else approached this problem and solved it? Am I missing something obvious?

Mmm, extending user/login and user/register has always been a complex thing, even in pure-ez4 installations. Most of the time developers would just implement from scratch their own user management views...

Any suggestions/code samples on how re-implementing it from scratch could be done in eZ5?

I'm also curious. Screens user/register and login, or forgotpassword.
But also how to change the content/view/sitemap or content/view/tagcloud.

Anyone? happy.gif Emoticon
