Ezpublish ezapprove workflow is this it?

Monday 26 September 2011 2:52:33 am - 5 replies

We have just spent a fair bit of time setting up Work flow on our ezpublish installation (4.1.3), with the ezapprove2 extension.
It seems to work well enough for publishing one page at a time, but I don't see how we can load multiple pages and link back and forward between them before they are approved for publishing ? This pretty much makes it useless for any real amount of content uploading.
Am I doing something wrong, or is that the way all Work flow systems work? Surely I cant be the only person wanting to load more than one page at a time?

Any suggestions or helpful references are welcome.

Hello Cousin,

I'm pleased to hear ezapprove2 is functioning for you.

I'm sorry to report I've not heard or seen any aproval system yet that did more than one record at a time in eZ.

Now you should still be able to build this functionality within a module extension.

Let us know what you decide. I would be interested in hearing what you ultimately come up with.

Cheers,

Heath

Hi Heath, thanks for your reply. No, I don't have the skills to add any functionality to a module.
At least I know that it's not me that is using it incorrectly.

I wonder how people get around this, it must be a very time consuming procedure building a site if all content has to be approved 1 item at a time.

My work around will probably  be to build stuff outside of ezapprove in a blind area of the site, then drag it over into a non-blind area once it has been checked over.

Thanks for your reply.

Oh joy, my faith in Workflow has been restored.

Our contractor installed Ezworkflowcollection and it is 100% useful by comparison to Ezapprove2. It uses object states and lets the user publish, link and re-edit multiple pieces of content without going live. That is real-world usability for you.

Hello Cousin Mosquito,

It is good to hear from you again! I'm so glad you decided to share this update, you have made my evening!

I am very eager to act on this advise. I can't wait to install eZWorkflowCollection right away!

I think it is quite good to use object states with workflow. I hope this advise helps others who are looking for a better solution to these kinds of challenges / problems.

Best wishes

Cheers,

Heath
