Are users shared across sites within a shared DB?

If setup as a multisite are users shared across sites?
If jdoe registers on site1 can he also register as jdoe on site2?

Or are users not unique across sites?

By multisite, I'm assuming you mean a shared database for all sites with different siteaccesses and not a database for each siteaccess sharing the same ez installation.

Any users will be then for all sites that are using the same database - for registering anyway.  Meaning you can't have two users with the same email address (unless you disable that in the settings) and certainly not with the same username.

You can  (in the settings) make users log in separately to different siteaccesses, if that's what you want, but that will be with the same user object that they registered once.  I'm assuming content is segregated through the use of sections, different user groups and/or subtree limitations so that a user will not end up on the wrong index page, etc.

If there is a separate database for each siteaccess, then there can be a jdoe on each... well, more accurately, then jdoe will be required to register on each.

You can separate users across more sites in different user groups, but the fact remains that username is unique on the db level, so the answers is no, there can not be 2 jdoe users in the same db, single or multi site.

They are definitely shared, if you want separation, use different databases happy.gif Emoticon
