Imagemagick not working - but it should!

Imagemagick not working - but it should!

Wednesday 22 January 2003 5:23:50 pm - 2 replies

Two facts:

1. Imagemagick works fine on my ez 2-2-7-1 installation.

2. Imagemagick does not work on my ez 2.9-6 installation.

This is all I can say after having spent a full day pulling my hair.

I run ez publish on a webhost and since I got ez2x to work (path is /usr/local/bin/convert) I can safely conclude that Imagemagick works on the webserver.

So, rest of the day I spent trying out all of the different combinations of:

path1: /usr/local/bin/convert
path2: /usr/local/bin/
useGD: true
useGD: false

(I tweaked both image.ini and image.ini.php)

(yes, installed the demofiles during db setup, and I double checked my ezimage table: it is full off example images).

So, what the heck is wrong here?

The whole installation went very smooth apart from one thing: modefix.sh script which gave me error messages (see post http://developer.ez.no/forum/message/13646/)

However, the web-install (which I ran after unpacking the .tar.gz file and trying to run modfix) completed without errors or any warnings (except the "fine-tune" which kindly reminded me that the program couldn't find Imagemagick), just had to chmod a few files.

So, I'm completely stuck. Any input is much appreciated!

(you find my ez-site at www.bd1.nu/zone1/index.php/user)

Kindly,
Mikael

It sounds like a very similar problem that I am currently having as well. Sorry I don't have a fix for it.

I tested image magic and the path by converting an image using there suggested test.

convert logo: logo.gif

I put the whole path in just to be sure my paths were working as well:

/home/local/bin/convert logo: logo.gif

I ran it in the terminal and it created a nice new image for me so the program is working and the path is correct.

I have all the usual settings

[ConverterSettings]
UseConvert=true
UseGD=false

[ShellSettings]
ConvertPath=/home/local/usr/bin
ConvertExecutable=convert

I have tried multiple combinations with no effect. I have also switched off caching and deleted all the cache files so that’s also not the problem.

Now what's really annoying is that it all worked happily until today and I haven't got a clue what I've done. So I reinstalled from scratch using the installer and doing it all manually. Put in the correct paths and image setup and it still doesn't work.

It has me at a loss.

If anyone has an answer to this I'd love to hear it as I'm now well and truly stuck.

Thanks.

Try this:

[ShellSettings]
ConvertPath=
ConvertExecutable=/home/local/usr/bin/convert

It worked for me (this tip came from Alex - see my latest post).
