remove email field from necessary registration info

Thursday 26 July 2012 12:06:29 pm - 4 replies

Hello,

my question is simple. Is it possible to remove from ezpublish user registration requested info the email address?I would like it was an optional field

If it is possible how can I do it?

My versione is 4.3.0

Thanks

Manuele

I don't think this is currently possible without severely hacking the kernel - the User Account datatype requires all 3 fields.

Correct!

@Manuele: you maybe can tell us a bit more about the envisaged application, there might be other eZ Publish ways.

Thank you for clearness.

I think there could be no way.

The problem is that my site involves a lot of users, but the registration is done by the administrator. The administrator often does not know the email address and so he mustfill in the email box with an email address not existing.

This cause the postfix server to attempt more and more to send notifications to these address. It is an expansive and non sense operation

Thanks

Hi Manuele,

You could use a single email address for users without, and disable notifications for such users.  You will need to change a few settings in site.ini(.append.php) unders [UserSettings] - set:

  • RequireUniqueEmail=false
  • AuthenticateMatch=login
  • VerifyUserEmail=disabled

As for disabling notifications, this depends on what notifications you have set up for your users.

Hope this helps,
Geoff
