Force single top level domains

Force single top level domains

Thursday 25 July 2013 9:47:44 am - 2 replies

Hi to all,
I cannot find in forum a topic that should be quite easy to solve (hope so!)
I have a lot of domain like
www.mysite.com
www.mysite.it
www.mysite.org
www.mysite.net

Only the top level domains changes

In this situation the about us page can have a lot of different (duplicate) url like

www.mysite.com/index.php/About-us
www.mysite.it/index.php/About-us
www.mysite.org/index.php/About-us
www.mysite.net/index.php/About-us

I just need to force everything to .com domain, otherwise google will find a lot of duplicate websites.
please not that I cannot make single page for each domains that have a link to the .com site.

I hope there is a fast solution with some site.ini settings, or maybe with some changes to .htaccess file.

Let me know!

Thanks
Luca

Do you want to

- have all sites be always redirected to the .com domain (for all their pages), or

- have all sites be always redirected to the .com domain (only for the info page, let user browse the rest of the site using the different domain name)

For the 1st case, apache rewrite rules are your friend.

For the 2nd, there is an html tag you can put in your head section, which should get you no penalty from google:

rel=”canonical”
