I found out that esi blocks renedered with private response cause to slow response of the page. So i also  implemented a caching per user just to make theese esi blocks cacheable. In details i described it here: http://share.ez.no/forums/ez-publ...ser-information-slows-down-whole-app

@Andrey: of course, going by user groups is the common approach. Our use case was a user workspace, which needs to be by user by design. One can argue of these pages should be cached at all, but it proved valuable in this project.
